During the summer of 2020, Mr. Joe got bored and wrote a song about a monkey. On October 30, 2020, The Funky Monkey was posted to YouTube. Not many people saw it at first, but the people who did knew they were witnessing something special. . . Exactly one year later, The Funky Monkey (One Year Anniversary) EP was released. This EP led to Mr. Joe gaining many new fans, which inspired him to make an album. . .
In March of 2022, Mr. Joe hinted at a new album. In April, Mr. Joe announced their debut album, BUG OCCUPATIONS! Released on May 1, 2022, the album was a change in direction from the usual pop sound Mr. Joe's fans were used to, but the album was still beloved by many, containing many fan favorites such as Worm Song, Rob the Train Conductor, and Teacher. Mr. Joe had so much fun recording that album that he became depressed when he was finished. A remastered version of Bug Occupations will be released on May 1, 2023.
On July 22, 2022, Mr. Joe released a TikTok with a poll asking if anyone would listen to a 2nd album. The answers were overwhelmingly positive, with 96% of people saying yes. On December 5th, 2022, Mr. Joe announced a 2nd album, simply titled "Mr. Joe 2." Mr. Joe 2 will be released some time in 2023!
